Effect of buckwheat seed storage duration on its quality

Institute for Medicinal Plant Research “Dr Josif Pančić”, Belgrade (1)
Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (2)

Abstract:

The effect of buckwheat seed storage duration on major indices of the quality was analyzed. Seed collected in 1996 and stored for 30 days (analyzed in 1996), seed stored for one year (analyzed in 1997), seed stored for two years (analyzed in 1998), seed stored for three years (analyzed in 1999) seed stored for four years (analyzed in 2000), seed stored for five years (analyzed in 2001) and seed stored for six years (analyzed in 2002) were investigated. The results of investigation have shown that seed stored up to two years had preserved its good production traits.

The influence of meteorological conditions on major quantitative and qualitative traits of buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench)

Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (1)
Institute for Medicinal Plant Research “Dr Josif Pančić“, Belgade (2)

Abstract:

The results of two-year investigations of buckwheat raised in agroecological conditions of South Banat (Pančevo) and West Serbia (Gorobilje) are presented in the paper. Based on the obtained investigation data, we confirm the hypothesis that buckwheat is a plant suited to more humid regions, since we have determined higher yield of the plant on locations with higher precipitation amount. During 1999, the yield of buckwheat was higher at the location in Pančevo and the next year at the location in Gorobilje.

The influence of basic meteorological elements and seeding density on yield and quality of fenugreek seed (Trigonella foenum graecum L.)

Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (1,2)
Institute of Medical Plant Research “Dr Josif Pančić”, Belgrade (3)

Abstract:

Results of two-year investigations (2000 and 2001) on the influence of seeding method and basic meteorological elements (precipitation and temperature) on yield and quality of fenugreek seed (Trigonella foenum graecum L.) are presented in this paper. Considerably higher yield of fenugreek seed in all variations was obtained in the second study year which was probably caused by more favorable precipitation during vegetation period.

Influence of vegetation space and usage of artichoke plant on yield and quality of artichoke seed (Cynara scolimus L.)

Institute for Medicinal Plants Research “Dr Josif Pančić”, Belgrade (1)
Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade, Belgrade-Zemun (2,3)

Abstract:

Rapid development of plantation-commercial production of medicinal plants demands certain quantities of adequate quality seed. Preliminary results for yield and quality of artichoke seed obtained from one-year and two-year crop plants with two variants of vegetation space sizes are presented. The 'Domestic large' variety was tested. The highest yield of seed was achieved in two-year artichoke plants grown in the variant of 70x50 cm row spacing.

The influence of genotype on ribwort-plantain (Plantago lanceolata) yield and quality

Medicinal Plants Research Institute “Dr Josif Pančić”, Belgrade (1)
Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (2,3)

Abstract:

The preliminary results of a two-year comparative investigation of two genotypes of ribwort-plantain in the agroecological conditions of west Serbia (Gorobilje), south Banat (Pančevo) are given. Genotype originating from the international exchange (marked with 'D') was compared with 'domestic' genotype which has been raised at the Medicinal Plants Research Institute 'Dr Josif Pančić', Belgrade, for more than ten years.
