Types of interactions in intercropping of maize and soya bean

Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (1,2,3)
Maize Research Institute, “Zemun Polje“, Belgrade-Zemun (4)

Abstract:

Intercropping two or more crops under similar micro environmental conditions can increase the agricultural productivity. A field study was conducted in three-year period 2003-2005 at experimental field of Maize Research Institute, Belgrade on chernozem soil type. This examination included three experimental hybrids of maize from various FAO groups of ripening (500,600 and 700) and the type of soya bean from II group of ripening (Nena). Maize and soybean was grown in pure stands and three combinations of intercrops (alternate-row and in strip intercropping).

Growth and yield of maize and cassava cultivars as affected by mycorrhizal inoculation and alley cropping regime

Plant Science Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria (1)
Botany & Microbiology Department, Faculty of Science, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria (2)

Abstract:

Effect of mycorrhizal inoculation and two pruning regimes in experimental alley cropping treatments on the leaf biomass and nutrient yield of sole and mixed Gliricidica septum (a modulating plant) ami Senna siamea (a non-nodulating plant) were investigated both in the greenhouse and in the field. The impact of the mixtures of these legumes as hedgerows on maize and one cultivar of cassava was also studied on the Held.

Abstract:

The influence of addition of Zenural 70, urea and Min-A-Zel Plus on chemical composition and quality of whole maize plant silage with different degree of compression was investigated in the paper. Experiment was two-factorial (2x3) with three replications, where factor A was a degree of compression (A1 = 680 g/dm3; A2 = 550 g/dm3), while factor B was an additive type (Decontrol; B2=5 g/kg urea+2 g/kg Min-A-Zel Plus; B3=5 g/kg Zenural 70).

Conservation of soil moisture in deep tillage rigosol under wheat and maize

Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (1)

Abstract:

At the experimental field "Radmilovac" of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Belgrade the study of the conservation of soil moisture in deep tillage Rigosol was carried out. The so called type of soil Rigosol was covered by wheat and maize. The Rigosol was formed by special treatment of the parent soil the Eutric Cambisol. The researches have been conducted during the most important phenophases of the crop growth, including formation of kernels, flowering, fertilization, grain filling and maturity.

Selection on uniformity and yield stability in maize

Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (1,4)
Agricultural Research Institute ”Serbia”, Belgrade (2)
Institute of Crop Production PKB INI ”Agroekonomik”, Belgrade (3)

Abstract:

Historically speaking, both the introduction of double-cross hybrids and use of single crosses have caused the increase in grain yield and significantly improved agricultural practice. Nowadays, the uniformity of crops is regarded as an advantage of modern agriculture, since the uniformity of products is crucial in global market. Thus, uniformity of crop maturation provides both planning and efficient mechanized harvest. F1 single-cross hybrids of maize, which is an allogamous species, not only exploit heterosis, but also impose homogeneity.
