Sowing date: The factor of yield and quality of fenugreek seed (Trigonella foenum graecum L.)

Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (1)
Medicinal Plants Research Institute “Dr Josif Pančić”, Belgrade (2)

Abstract:

Results of a two-year investigation (2005 and 2006) for the yield and quality of fenugreek seed (Trigonella foenum graecum L.) obtained on the location in South Banat (around Pančevo) on marsh dark soil are presented in the paper. Fenugreek seed used in this investigation was produced in the collection of the Institute of Medicinal Plant Research "Dr Josif Pančić" in Pančevo. The effect of sowing date on yield (kg/ha) and quality of fenugreek seed (germination energy and total germination) were investigated.

Effects of application of certain types of fertilizers on anise seed yield and quality

Medicinal Plants Research Institute “Dr Josif Pančić”, Belgrade (1)
Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (2)

Abstract:

The results of two-year research on the effect of application of certain types of fertilizers on yield and quality of anise seed are analyzed in this paper. Application of fertilizer has significantly influenced the yield, so in both study years (2004, 2005) the highest yield was achieved in fertilization variant with Baktofil 80 l/ha.

Growth and yield of maize and cassava cultivars as affected by mycorrhizal inoculation and alley cropping regime

Plant Science Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria (1)
Botany & Microbiology Department, Faculty of Science, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria (2)

Abstract:

Effect of mycorrhizal inoculation and two pruning regimes in experimental alley cropping treatments on the leaf biomass and nutrient yield of sole and mixed Gliricidica septum (a modulating plant) ami Senna siamea (a non-nodulating plant) were investigated both in the greenhouse and in the field. The impact of the mixtures of these legumes as hedgerows on maize and one cultivar of cassava was also studied on the Held.

Effect of pre-winter sowing on earliness and yield of spinach

Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (1,2)

Abstract:

The paper deals with the effect of pre-winter sowing on earliness and yield of spinach. Sowing was conducted late in the autumn (November-December), i.e. before harsh frosts. Spring sowing served as the control. It was established that pre-winter sowing significantly increased the earliness of spinach and decreased its yield. Due to favorable effect on earliness, pre-winter sowing should be applied in the production of this vegetable. Early spinach is a commodity which is highly requested on the market and is placed on the market at a high price.

Variability of some traits of flax seed in respect to genotype and climatic conditions

Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (1)
Medicinal Plants Research “Dr Josif Pančić”, Belgrade (2)

Abstract:

Beside its multiple use in oil producing and feed industry, flax seed is used also in pharmaceutical industry as additional medicinal component, whether as mono component or in tea mixtures. Results of a two-year cultivation of several flax genotypes are analyzed. The highest yield of seed in both study years was achieved in genotype "Z" and the lowest in standard cultivar "Mira". In regard to germination energy and total germination, the best value was determined for genotype "B" and the lowest for standard cultivar "Mira".

Possibility of growing elecampane in conditions of non-watering field crop production

Institute ”Tamiš“, Pančevo (1,4)
Institute of Medicinal Plants Research “Dr Josif Pančić”, Belgrade (2)
Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (3)

Abstract:

Intensively researching different populations of elecampane, we are able to present the results of yield achieved during three years' microexperiments (2001, 2002, 2003) realized in non-watering field crop production. Comparing the results of yield, it was concluded that all five populations had higher yield, both fresh and dry elecampane root mass, compared to standard cultivars called "Domaća".

Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (1,2,3,4,5)

Abstract:

The recommended cultivars for top quality wines Riesling in the vineyards of Grocka is in full crop. It was grafted on Kober 5 BB stock and planted on the soil type cambysoil. The content of total nitrogen is 0.1-0.15%. Supply of easily available potassium varies between 12.3-15 mg/100g a.d.s.2, i.e. phosphorus 0.4-3.6 mg/100g a.d.s. in layer up to 40 cm.

The influence of meteorological conditions on major quantitative and qualitative traits of buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench)

Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade-Zemun (1)
Institute for Medicinal Plant Research “Dr Josif Pančić“, Belgade (2)

Abstract:

The results of two-year investigations of buckwheat raised in agroecological conditions of South Banat (Pančevo) and West Serbia (Gorobilje) are presented in the paper. Based on the obtained investigation data, we confirm the hypothesis that buckwheat is a plant suited to more humid regions, since we have determined higher yield of the plant on locations with higher precipitation amount. During 1999, the yield of buckwheat was higher at the location in Pančevo and the next year at the location in Gorobilje.
